Singapore, Jakarta, Singapore, home.

Flew from LAX to Narita Tokyo Japan, then to Singapore last night. Very long flight.
Once again, it is raining in Singapore. I think this is the third or fourth time I have been here and not seen one day without rain. Off to Jakarta tomorrow for two days. Staying at the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta. Looks like a great hotel.

Jamie, I noticed your comment about movies on planes in first class. Since I started traveling here, I have been flying Thai, Singapore, Asiana, Cathay, etc. Every one of these have your own personal screen with games, movies (30 movies on my flight last night) TV shows (about 30) radio, news, info about destinations, digital music, etc. etc. The food is far and away better then any US carrier. The service is about 10 times better. Not to bash Continental here since I have not really flown them much but I avoid US carriers as much as possible as they do not compare to these carriers.

People tell me it is the unions. Not sure I buy that. It probably is to a point but it is also about attitude. I flew United once on a long leg back home once and it realy stood out as miserable comparitivly. Less room, horid food, horid service, dirty old plane, no choice on entertainment, etc.

If I have time, I will try to take some pics in Jakarta. Not sure I will have much as I have two days of a lot of work here.

Hey Pat, You have to try Continental's business first if it is a convienent route for you. Our business first is consistently voted the best in the sky, both domestically and internationally. It really is nice, and we have had personal tvs, games, radio, travel info, etc. too for a long time. And the food is always done by guest chefs who are award winning. The food and drink service is constant. I fare quoted Jaime's flight and it would have cost $6700 on Continental, $11,000 on United (direct from Chicago.) So the price for us is sure right! Have fun, looking forward to you pictures!

My economy class on Singapore from Singapore to Jakarta was by far and away the best I have ever seen. I had twice the room, the best service ever, and the best entertainment and it was an hour flight. Stunning airline.
