Siena Italy
For Samantha: I had a photo of the Siena plaza where the horse race is held. Nancy & I were in Siena a few years ago. I don't know how the horses make the turns without slipping and crashing. The town was one of our favorites in Europe. Did you take any photos ?

sienna is one of my favorite towns in europe also. it definitely is my favorite town in italy. its just the right size, small, but with the feeling of a big city. from a landscape architecture point of view, sienna is just perfect. the way the entire town is radially arranged from that main place is just wonderful. it inspired me in my first project i did here this summer.
the horses do crash around those turns! on the first major turn, they set up a row of cushions because they always wipe out. we saw a horse go down there and crush the jockey. he had to be carried off the track before the horses came around again. it was really crazy. my friend took some pictures, but they are on her computer. i will try to get those posted one of these days. she really captured the excitement in some of those pictures.
i miss you guys and i can't wait to show you all my pictures. blog more! i feel like i'm blogging to myself! love you all!
